Monitoring

Prerequisites: Client Application Management

When all of the above was done, we found very little monitoring was needed -- the machines pretty much took care of themselves.

We have recently had good experiences with both syslog-ng and Netsaint. It pays to set up a central syslog server. These days, with cellular service providers providing free e-mail gateways, paging is much easier. You may also want to take a look at the Network Paging Protocol (SNPP) support in HylaFAX.
